Dear Mr. Smith,
Please accept this letter in response to your advertisements in The Westerly Weekly Press, February 20, 2008, and The Westerly Sunday Journal, February 22, 2008, for a Physical Education / Health teacher at Westerly High School. I have enclosed my resume and a completed application for employment.
As a Washington State–certified, experienced, and successful teacher of Physical Education / Health and an athletic coach for nine years, I have consistently demonstrated my ability to motivate and handle youngsters, both in the classroom and on the playing field. Equally important, I possess a sincere caring for teenagers and extend myself to help ensure their success.
My strengths as a teacher include patience, dedication, and a strong sense of organization. Although I enjoy working within a rather structured curriculum, I am quite able to adapt to most working environments. Finally, of utmost importance to me is that my students receive physical education instruction of the highest quality. I strive to inculcate integrity in all that they do as students and future citizens and leaders of our city and country.
Thank you, Dr. Kessler, for considering my application for employment in the Westerly School District. I look forward to meeting with you to reveal and discuss my objectives during professional development. May I call next week to set up an appointment to meet?
